Give young children a bath every other day unless it's really needed

Why This is Green

A standard bath uses about 35 to 50 gallons of water. Bathing young children every other day--and together, not separately--saves those gallons per bath. That's a lot of H2O saved! (Not to mention the lovely break from the hassle of combing out wet knots.)

Using less water means more will stay in the ground or in a surface reservoir. This helps maintain a natural balance and leaves more water for future use. There are many parts of the country that do not have enough water to support the current population's use and demand. Many shortages can be avoided by using a little less water. It feels good to do your part.

How To

Bathe your kid or kids every other day unless covered head to toe in mud and other gunk.

Wiping down icky parts with a soapy washcloth might be a good idea on the off days. Just saying....

Don't forget about other great green steps you can take in the tub including using safe and fun bath toys (if you prefer not to play with plastic, there are plenty of fun wood boat toys on the market), kid- and earth-friendly suds, non-toxic cleaning products, and organic cotton towels.
