Build or buy a LEED-certified house or apartment
Why This is Green
A LEED-certified home has been built according to guidelines established by the U. S. Green Building Council. These homes are designed and built to achieve significantly better energy and water efficiencies as well use sustainable and healthy materials. Based on points, homes can be certified or achieve silver, gold, or platinum ratings. LEED-certified homes save energy and water, improve health, reduce waste, and use a greater percentage of renewable materials than traditional homes do.

How To
To become LEED-certified, a home must either be newly built or undergo a major renovation. Most often, homeowners take the initiative to find a green architect and/or builder. That said, it is increasingly possible to find and purchase LEED certified homes and apartments.
