Carpool to work one day a week
Why This is Green
If you drive to work alone daily, you’re in good company: more than 75 percent of America’s work force commutes by driving solo. All those cars on the road equals a lot of gasoline guzzled, money spent, and high levels of greenhouse gas emissions.
Carpooling is an easy and effective way to reduce your environmental impact and save cash.
By finding a co-worker or neighbor (or several) to share the drive with with, you will also be reducing traffic congestion for yourself and others. Bonus: reducing the number of miles put on your car will increase its lifetime. The more you carpool, the more your wallet, car, and the environment will thank you. One day a week is a step in the right direction.

How To
If you don’t already know of someone you can carpool with, ask around at work to see if any of your office mates live near you. If anyone’s route to work at least overlaps with yours, meeting up halfway counts; it can still reduce environmental impact as well as save money—by 10 percent for every day you’re able to carpool.
If you can’t find a colleague to carpool with, try a neighbor, a friend, or even a carpooling site or service. You might make a new friend as you reduce your impact on the earth.
Scheduling can be tricky; meetings come up. A Google calendar can help with organization. So can flexibility.
If choosing between several cars, take the most fuel efficient one.
