Stop smoking (or never start)
Why This is Green
To know the risks of smoking, read a pack of cigarettes. It’s scary. Healthy households are smoke free. Not smoking is not only extremely important to the health of the person who actually smokes, but also everyone around that person. Secondhand smoke is also a carcinogen, and there is no risk free amount of it. Cancer.gov states that at least 69 chemicals in secondhand smoke are known to cause cancer. At home, this can translate to heart disease and lung cancer risk for each non-smoker exposed. Children exposed to smoke are especially vulnerable to respiratory problems like asthma, delayed lung growth, ear infections, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Smoking doesn’t only pollute the air in your home, it pollutes the air we all share. By quitting, you’ll reduce air pollution, reclaim your health, and stop putting those around you at risk. You’ll also save money. Cigarettes and the taxes on them are expensive.
