Switch to recycled toilet paper
Why This is Green
Would you sacrifice a little softness to save trees? Switching to recycled toilet paper is a simple step you can take to help protect our natural resources. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council if every household in the U.S replaced a single roll of virgin fiber toilet paper with a 100 percent recycled one we could save 423,900 trees. Imagine the impact if every household gave up virgin fiber toilet paper altogether!
The EPA recommends the use of recycled paper products to help preserve old growth forests, conserve resources, save energy, plus reduce solid waste, air and water pollutants and the greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Who knew something as mundane and easy as changing your roll of toilet paper could have such tremendous impact.

How To
Soft recycled toilet paper does exist--honestly! Check the packaging when shopping to find out whether a product is made with recycled paper, or consult the NRDC’s Environmental Ratings to see how your toilet paper ranks. If it didn’t fare well, consider switching to a toilet paper that is made from 100 percent recycled paper with as much post-consumer content as possible.
If you don’t like the first brand you try, try and try again.
Avoid paper products that are whitened with chlorine bleach, which can release harmful chemicals such as dioxins and furans—known carcinogens—as manufacturing process byproducts. Look for the words Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) or Process Chlorine Free (PCF) on the packaging.
