All Practically Green: No one has ADDED this to their action plan yet.
By choosing organic options for the dirty dozen, you can reduce you and your family's exposure to pesticides by up to 80%. The dirty dozen are:
* celery
* peaches
* strawberries
* apples
* blueberries
* nectarines
* bell peppers
* spinach
* kale
* cherries
* potatoes
* imported grapes
It can be challenging, both financially and logistically, to shop "all organic". However, organic options are increasing whether it's through organic options at regular grocery stores, the growth in all-natural markets, or farmers' markets/CSAs. This week, see what's available in your normal routine: you may be surprised. If you can't afford to replace everything, consider substituting fruits and vegetables that are lower risk and select one or two organic items to try.
However, if choices aren't great or REALLY expensive and you want to make this change consistently, some homework will help, particularly on the cost side. Local co-ops, local CSA networks, and other outlets offer more organic food options and may have significantly lower costs than buying organic at a traditional supermarket.
